Tuxedo Evenings
In one of my usual displays of poor judgement, I arrive in Estonia in Winter.
In winter people here drink hard drink and go ice fishing:
The parks and harbours freeze up,
and the line between land and sea gets blurred:
Even walking around the capital, my face freezes up and I am unable to speak.
So I decide to take an apartment and wait it out, sitting beside my window:
The upside is it makes for elegant evenings.
I regret there is no tuxedo in my backpack.
The evenings here really call for a dinner suit.

Well, a tux alone would be not enough. You can’t wear a tux with boots and wool socks. Plus, a tux is s much a frame of mind as a suit 😉
I agree! It is a frame of mind. But, who said you can’t wear boots and wool socks with a suit or tux? 😀
The blue haze photo makes for a great Currier and Ives painting.
Pray tell where you’d be going in your tux, if you had one???

white spats and lots of dollars

Thanks. Possibly because Estonia is almost as far north as the south of Norway, and so I guess has some similarities.
The use of limited color is quite effective-lovely images.
Thanks. in fact I didn’t do any color post processing – I think it was just a result of the white balance setting in the camera. I sometimes forget to change it when the quality of the light changes. And in some light, I don’t really know what to change it to.
Having lived in Miami, Florida USA where June – end Sept is a furnace these pics look refreshing to me.
Love this. There is something magical about snow, although I would hate to have to shovel it from my driveway! Also, I get cold easily… But I love snow. And, somehow, I see what you mean about the tux.
Yes, I think it is the combination of the soft light and the clean white snow that calls for the tux.
